Westminster Abbey Floral Abbey Cotton Scarf

The design of this cotton scarf is based on an oil painting by Devon artist Rah Rivers, which was specially commissioned by us for an exclusive range. The image draws upon the spiritual nature of the Abbey as a place of worship, continuing a 1400 year old tradition, and the angels are inspired by those that feature within the Abbey. Rivers also drew inspiration from the Litlyngton Missal which was commissioned in 1383 by the Abbot Nicholas Litlyngton and is one of the Abbey’s finest treasures. Entwined within the painting are beautiful Tudor roses, the High Altar Cross, the rose windows and a crown – a nod to Abbey’s unique relationship with the monarchy and its status as a Royal Peculiar.
